Facebook misuse … whatever next?

Working in this sector, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised about anything I hear.

Even about people's behaviour on Facebook.

But I was surprised when I attended a recent cybersecurity industy dinner. The young lady I was sitting next to worked for a county council (which I shall not name here), and told me that they quite rightly have very strict rules about teachers not befriending their students on the social networking site.

Despite this, a number of teachers still insist on doing so. And this was in the week when a 30 year old maths teacher had absconded to France with a 15 year old female student.

Then today, I read that a help line set up for people who work with children said that around a third of its calls are about bullying. But here's the difficult thing to swallow …teachers are being targeted not just by students, but by parents!

I know I sound like my Dad, but what's the world coming to?
